The day is finally here. Today, Be At One Birmingham opens it’s doors to the general public for the first time.

I was privileged to be invited to the VIP opening last night and I have to say, this may be my new favourite bar in Birmingham, and I’m not the only one saying that.

Be At One Birmingham has an incredible location, just outside the brand new New Street Station and Grand Central Birmingham shopping centre which opened last year and served by the Midland Metro extension which is due to commence passenger services basically to Be At One’s doorstep by the end of the month. The bar itself is located beneath the Piccadilly Arcade, a former art deco cinema now filled with independent retailers like craft coffee shops and great tailors.

Be At One Birmingham is housed in the former pool hall under the arcade, and the space is incredible. Be At One’s architects have worked to incorporate original features of the building within their signature style which incorporates a large island bar with a colour palate of brass, copper and dark woods, contrasted against various neon and led effect lighting to adjust the mood.

The eye is drawn immediately to the bar though which is undoubtedly the main attraction here. Be At One has Be at one bartenderone of the most extensive cocktail menus in the country and invests heavily in their bar teams to make sure that they are comprehensively trained and perfectly positioned to deliver the menu.

The menu itself is vast, running the gamut from classics like the Ramos Gin Fizz and Old Fashioned, to classic twists like the Sipsmith VJOP Re-Fashioned and unpretentious, indulgent ice cream cocktails like the Irish Disco Biscuit.

The music is retro-cool, every track is a classic you’ll recognise and its the perfect level of party atmosphere for the decor of the bar. This is no nightclub, but a cool hangout open from afternoon till late night and its a perfect destination whatever the time of day. Don’t expect a meal or even bar snacks here. Be At One is all about the drinks!
