Whilst studying Product Design for Engineering in Stafford, David took his first steps into the drinks industry at the age of 18 in 2000. Having worked in Retail from 15 in the seaside town of Clacton-on-sea, a chance meeting while taking a friend to interview at a local nightclub resulted in a 4 night a week job around his studies at the Reynolds Nightclub in Stafford. A couple of months later, he was preparing to open the Cellar bar, recently refurbished as a chic underground cocktail lounge and our story had begun.
Since then David has been a competitive bartender at the national level with TGI Fridays, headhunted to open a luxury resort on The Palm in Dubai, managed nightclubs, developed drinks menus for independent chains and worked in both sales and digital marketing for the UK’s largest drinks wholesaler.
BartenderHQ itself began when David’s family did, which was the first time he worked outside of the drinks industry full time (with a magic production company). Originally as an outlet for his passion for drinks and as a way to educate new bartenders, BartenderHQ has now grown to a multi platform operation across social media, YouTube and the BartenderHQ podcast.
