While the classic dry martini is made with gin, or more recently Vodka, 100% Agave Blanco tequila shines in a Tequila Martini.
Chilled right down and served in a frozen coupe over an ice sphere, this drink is a perfect mix of classic and modern. With a little more vermouth than most use in a martini, though not as much as my preferred 50:50 ratio, you get complexity without overpowering the agave.
Tequila Martini Cocktail Ingredients
AquaRiva Tequila is made using Autoclaves to steam cook the Agave Piñas, retaining a clean taste but with a distinctive tequila flavour.
Dolin is a classic French vermouth, white and dry.
Tequila Martini Cocktail Recipe
- 2½oz (75ml) AquaRiva Blanco Tequila
- ¾oz (22.5ml) Dolin Dry Vermouth
Stir with cubed ice and strain over an ice sphere in a large coupe glass. Garnish with a dehydrated lime wheel.
This drink certainly moves the perception of Tequila from shooter to elegant sipper. While Tequila has always been a drink accepted without mixers, this takes the appreciation of its quality to a higher level.
