Im a personal fan of the Old Fashioned and the Manhattan, yet for some reason it has been far too long since I’ve tried a Rob Roy, even though Scotch is my standard late tipple. This, I will have to fix! The Rob Roy is in essence a sweet Manhattan made with Scotch in place of Bourbon, but not too sweet!

Glassware:

Chilled martini glass.

Rob Roy Ingredients:

  • 2oz (60ml) Blended Scotch Whiskey
  • 1oz (30ml) Sweet Vermouth
  • 2 Dashes Angostora bitters
  • ¼oz (7.5ml) Maraschino juice from the cherry jar

Method:

Stir with ice and strain into the glass. Garnish with a cherry and lemon zest.

Switching the Angostora Bitters out for Orange bitters will give you the Highland cocktail, so congratulations, you just learnt two drinks for the price of one!
