We have received confirmation that Reflex Arcadian in Birmingham City Centre opened its doors for the last time on Saturday 27th February 2016 and has ceased trading effective immediately.
Reflex is operated by Stonegate Pub Company as a leasehold property from LCP properties. Due to high rates the company have made the decision not to renew the lease which expires this year.
The venue was initially leased by Mitchell’s and Butlers in 1991 when the Arcadian centre was thriving with a cinema, ice rink and several successful bars.
It traded as a typical pub, PJs Moon and Sixpence, until August 2004 when it was rebranded into Reflex. Making the venue the second Reflex in the city after Reflex on Broad St and sitting alongside it’s sister brand Flares, now Popworld.
Reflex traded proudly for 12 years with the final 6 years being led by the same manager Jo, who was very passionate about the brand. She led the venue to become crowned Birmingham’s Best Bar None in 2011 and went on to win three further Best Bar None awards in the Best Nightclub category and one Highly Commended. She was also one of 12 licensees in the country to make it to the Semi-Finals of the BII’s Licensee of the Year award.
Reflex outlived many bars and nightclubs in the area, seeing the closure of Oceana, Mint, O’Neill’s, The Electric and most recently Le Truc.
Reflex has provided many a great night out for the people of Birmingham and beyond and will be missed by many.
Most of all the staff team past and present who collectively refer to themselves as ‘Reflex Family.’
The manager would like to sincerely thank all of my team and all of my customers from the past six years which has truly been an amazing experience.
The Reflex Arcadian Legacy
As you’ll be aware the Central Flair Series held it’s first event at Reflex Arcadian at the beginning of February, the event has not finished! We’re just finalising the new venue, but until then you can find our online flair competition details here and keep the flair going. We’ll be announcing our return in the very near future.
