I was convinced I’d already shared the recipe for the Ready Fire Aim cocktail while talking about our New York honeymoon when I drank it at Employees Only. I think I might have included a video in one of our posts, but not the actual recipe for this great drink. Created by the legendary Steve Schneider, it combines smokey Mezcal, spice, pineapple and pepper.
How to make a Ready Fire Aim Cocktail
- 1¾oz (52.5ml) Mezcal Joven
- 1oz (30ml) Honey-Pineapple Syrup
- ¾oz (22.5ml) Pineapple Juice
- ½oz (15ml) Lime Juice
- 3 dashes Bittermens Hellfire Habanero Shrub
The Honey Pineapple syrup is made as follows, according to the Bittermens website where the recipe is from:
To make the Honey-Pineapple syrup, you will need 2 cups of honey, 1 cup of water, 50 pink peppercorns and 1 pineapple (cubed). Mix two cups of honey with one cup of hot water. In a separate container, crush together 50 pink peppercorns and a whole cubed pineapple. Add the two mixtures together and let sit overnight. Fine strain into a clean container with a lid.
The drink is shaken with ice, fine strained and served straight up in a coupe glass. Garnish with ground pink peppercorn.
