Shooters are a great bolt on to an order to boost your spend per head, especially if the manager is monitoring your average checks. They’re also fun to make and will show your customers that you care!

1: Liquid bubblegum.

This turquoise blue shooter grabs attention – when you make a round of these everyone else around the bar will be asking “What’s that?” and you won’t stop selling them all night! Not too strong and they taste great, so your customers will be ordering them again and again.

Ingredients:

  1. ½oz Baileys Irish Cream
  2. ½oz Banana Liqueur
  3. ½oz Blue Curacao

Method:

Shake ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled shooter glass.

2: Blue Kamikaze.

Only a slight twist on the original, but it seems when you make a drink blue, more people are interested! Not too sweet, but packs a kick!

Ingredients:

  1. 1oz Vodka (or citrus vodka if available)
  2. ½oz Blue Curacao
  3. ½oz Lemon Juice

Method:

Shake ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled rocks glass. (don’t worry, its not supposed to fill the glass, its just a little too big for a shooter glass!)

3: Flatliner.

There will always be the one person in the bar who wants “The worst shot you’ve got”, or at least someone who wants to buy that for their friends! I personally quite like these, but it certainly ticks all the boxes for the punishment shot!

Ingredients:

  1. ¾oz Sambuca (chilli flavour if available)
  2. ¾oz Tequila
  3. Several drops of tabasco pepper sauce

Method:

Pour sambuca into shooter glass, layer tequila on top. Drop tabasco sauce through the tequila and it will settle into a red line between the liquors.

4: Pingu.

This is one of the popular shooters from my days at TGI Friday’s (ask your bartender) which was always a winner…

Ingredients:

  1. ½oz Black Sambuca
  2. ½oz Cointreau (or any triple sec)
  3. ½oz Blavod Black Vodka

Method:

Pour the ingredients in the order listed slowly to create distinct layers.

5: Velvet Hammer Shooter (His and Hers).

Normally a martini glass drink, the shooter looses nothing but size. Listed below is what I call the ‘Hers’ version. For ‘His’, take out the grenadine and switch the triple sec for Blue Curacao, giving you a baby blue colour!

Ingredients:

  1. ½oz White Creme de Cacao
  2. ½oz Triple Sec
  3. 1 Dash Grenadine
  4. ½oz Cream

Method:

Shake ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled shooter glass.

6: The Jaegerbomb.

A list like this wouldn’t be complete without the Jaegerbomb. Its probably the most popular party shooter today, certainly in nightclubs. Vary it by switching out the Jaegermeister for Goldschlagger or another liquor.

Ingredients:

  1. 1oz Jaegermeister
  2. ⅓ Can of Red Bull (or other energy drink)

Method:

Pour Jaeger into a shot glass, and Red Bull into a rocks glass. Drop shot glass inside rocks glass. Drink and Repeat.
