For many of us the word most closely associated with ‘craving’ will always be chocolate. Chocolate is a silky delicious miracle when you consider it all comes from the humble cocoa bean. Even more amazing is the vast myriad of ways chocolate can be used. Chocolate can be savory or sweet, spicy or smooth, eaten or drunk and it pairs well with so many ingredients. One of the best ways to consume chocolate? Why, in a cocktail of course!

Here are 5 of most absolutely delicious cocktails out there – all inspired by the most scrumptious and satisfying flavour out there: chocolate!

1. Brandy Alexander

This cocktail is a classic for a reason. Smooth and creamy with a delicate bite, a well-made Brandy Alexander is a real crowd-pleaser. To make one combine 1 part each brandy, dark creme de cacao, and cream in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into a chilled martini glass. Finally, top with ground nutmeg. This classy libation can be enjoyed at any time of the day, but like many of the cocktails on this list, it makes a wonderful digestif or after dinner drink.

2. Chocolate Covered Orange

Chocolate and orange are a match made in heaven and our next cocktail takes full advantage of the pairing. To make this posh potion combine 2 Oz gin, 1 Oz orange liqueur, and 4 dashes orange bitters in a mixing glass. Next, add lots of ice to the glass and stir until the glass is frosted, strain the mixture into a coupe glass and garnish with plenty of shaved chocolate and an orange twist. Try Santa Barbara chocolate, it’s delicious and you can buy high quality chocolate in bulk. Enjoy this heavenly cocktail with high quality ingredients for the best results.

3. Chocolate Mint Julep

The next cocktail on this list is a smart variation on a true classic. To make this refreshing summer treat, muddle about 10 mint leaves (the chocolate mint variety would be an excellent choice) in the bottom of a julep glass, then add 2 Oz bourbon and 1/2 Oz creme de cacao. Fill the glass with crushed ice until the glass frosts and top up with even more crushed ice. You can finish this cocktail with a dusting of cocoa powder that will charm your guests.

4. Mochatini

Coffee and chocolate are another irresistible pairing and they come together beautifully in this fabulous martini. Simply combine 1 1/2 Oz coffee liqueur with 1 1/2 Oz vanilla vodka and 3/4 oz creme de cacao, shake with ice in a cocktail strainer, and strain into a chilled martini glass. Who ever said beauty couldn’t be simple?

5. Coconut Hot Chocolate

The last cocktail on our list is simple to make, but that doesn’t make it any less delicious. To make it, simply add 2 Oz coconut rum to premium dark hot chocolate, then top with whip cream and shredded coconut! If you don’t have dark hot chocolate available, we recommend using only 1 Oz coconut rum unless you have a serious sweet tooth!

If you are a chocolate lover, these cocktails will blow you away. Try one at your next dinner party, romantic dinner, or quiet night alone!
